Concert Hall: Fred Wesley & The New JBs

“It’s well-known in rap and hip-hop circles that, along with James Brown and George Clinton, Wesley is one of the most sampled musicians in the world today” – Timothy White, Billboard.

After a sold out show with us earlier in the year, Fred Wesley and James Brown’s backing band The JBs head to Manchester for another lesson in the history of funk.

Beginning his career with Ike and Tina Turner, he later became musical director, arranger and composer for the Godfather of funk himself, James Brown, and played with Parliament-Funkadelic.

Wesley became the world’s most famous sideman through his work with Brown, defining the language of funk for years to come and later taking it to the next level alongside George Clinton and Bootsy Collins.

Join us in the company of a living legend.

Doors to the Concert Hall open upstairs at 7pm.
